Albert Bolle Nursery School

Albert Bolle Nursery School

Anyone who has ever had the good fortune to visit Father Bolle in Igunga will remember that he not only built a primary and secondary school there in the last 20 years of his life. Right across from the mission post where he lived, he started a simple nursery school as his very first project in Igunga. As is customary in Tanzania, all the children receive breakfast every morning at 10 am in the form of uji, a porridge made from millet flour with ground peanuts and sugar. Father Bolle therefore called the nursery school his ‘porridge school’.

However, due to the lack of a kitchen, this porridge was still prepared at the mission post until now. After we had already built two new nursery classes and a teacher’s room in 2021, Bollé Bollé was asked this year to build a kitchen and dining room for this nursery school. Construction started in May and the new building was fully completed at the end of September. Yet another major improvement for the toddlers who can now enjoy a cup of porridge every morning in the new dining room without having to cross the busy street to Father Bolle's former mission post.
