Since 2024, we have been supporting a new primary boarding school in Kibigiri, Shelui. This primary school was started a few years ago to provide education to the poor rural population of the region, which mainly lives from small-scale agriculture. Located 40 km from Igunga, Father Bolle built a new church and rectory there during the last years of his life.
Because drinking water is also a challenge in this part of Tanzania, the school asked for help in collecting rainwater during the rainy season. After all, rainwater is the purest water available and therefore the most suitable as drinking water. After installing roof drains on all school buildings, the seven associated rainwater wells were also installed just before the start of the rainy season, with a total collection capacity of 40,000 liters. It will not surprise you: since then, every rain shower is greeted with a festive rain dance!
